Sensei Mike Vaughn Head Instructor contact Bio: Sensei Mike Vaughn, originally from Illinois, always had an interest in the Martial Arts. Even though he did not always have the means to study in his youth , he would learn from friends who studied officially from other instructors. Through school, Sensei Mike was able to focus on athletics in his spare time and he excelled in football and weight training. At the age of 20, Sensei Mike moved to California and began training in Jiu-Jitsu. His first Jiu-Jitsu instructor was Shihan Tad Goble. Sensei Tad Goble is a 6th degree Jiu-Jitsu belt and the founder of his own style of Jiu-Jitsu. At that same time, Sensei Mike studied Aikido from Shihan Grandville. Shihan Grandville studied from many traditional Martial Arts instructors in Okinawa while he was in the US Air Force. He also was stationed at Utapao AB in Thailand, and he taught American and Thai security teams Aikido techniques. Sensei Mike finally got to Texas in 1992, and he started a form of Kenpo-Parker Kenpo. His instructor in that form was Sifu Adrian Roman. Adrian "Chief" Roman is an 8th degree Black Belt in Senior Grandmaster Edmond K. Parker's American Kenpo, and as Grandmaster of his own unique system Red Warrior/Tushka-homa, he is the highest ranked Native American in the Martial Arts world today. Two years later, Sensei Mike trained in another style of Kenpo, Nick Cerio's Kenpo. His instructor of this style is Dr. Nicholas Chamberlain. Dr. Chamberlain studied Nick Cerio's Kenpo under Professor Cerio. He also studied many other forms of Martial Arts under great leaders in their own styles. Dr. Chamberlain teaches under Chamberlain's Studio of Self Defense in Dallas. Sensei Mike is currently a Sandan (3rd Degree Black Belt) and continues to train regularly with Shihan Chamberlain. Sensei Mike started his own school in 1999 in The Colony, Texas, where he has resided since 1994. His current Colony location was opened in 2003 and a new location was added in Frisco/Little Elm, Texas in January 2004. His school's mission is to provide a safe and healthy environment for people of all ages to come and train in the Martial Arts to physically improve their body, sharpen their mind and lift their spirit. |
